Paul C. Wetmore

Paul C. Wetmore, MBA, CLU, FSCP, LUTCF, is an Adjunct Professor of Insurance at The American College, where he serves as an author-editor for several insurance programs. In addition to instructing numerous courses for The American College, Paul writes and edits textbook material, course learning components, and instructor classroom guides.

Paul has over 3 decades of experience in the financial services industry. Starting as a financial advisor at MetLife in their Metropolitan Executive Training program, he has held a variety of roles in the field, including Fee-Based Financial Planner, Sales Office Training Director, Sales Office Recruiting Director, and roles in Sales Office Management.

Paul then headed up the regional training program in MetLife’s Boston region. After transitioning to a role in MetLife’s New Jersey home office, he worked in the life insurance product development area for 17 years and was responsible for designing and implementing new life insurance products and riders, including new term life, universal life, variable universal life, and whole life products.

He also created and implemented a national marketing department at MetLife, consisting of a team of marketing directors supporting all of MetLife’s domestic individual business sales offices and career sales representatives across the country in all areas of their marketing efforts.

Paul received his BA degree in Economics from Saint Lawrence University, where he graduated cum laude, and his MBA from Clarkson University. He also holds the Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®), Financial Services Certified Professional® (FSCP®), and Life Underwriter’s Training Council Fellow® (LUTCF®) designations.

Steve Parrish

Steve Parrish, JD, CLU, ChFC, RICP, AEP, is Professor of Practice and a Scholar in Residence at The American College of Financial Services, where he previously served as Co-Director of the Retirement Income Center. He was also recently an Adjunct Professor of Estate Planning and Interim Director of the Compliance and Risk Management at the Drake University Law School.

With over 50 years of experience as an attorney and financial planner, Parrish is an expert on retirement, estate, and business owner succession planning. He is a recognized industry authority, spokesperson and author serving as an ongoing contributor for both Forbes.com and is a contributing author to the 2024 e-textbook Retirement Plans and Retirement Planning. He was the 2023 winner of the Kenneth Black Jr. Journal Author Award and has written for the Journal of Financial Service Professionals (where he is also an Associate Editor), Journal of Financial Planning and Hastings Business Law Journal.

Parrish has served as an expert source for such prominent media outlets as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, CNBC, National Public Radio, InvestmentNews, Money.com, USN&WR, and AARP The Magazine. He has also served as an expert witness. In addition, he is a sought-after speaker for bar associations, estate planning councils and financial service industry meetings.

Parrish received his B.A., Cum Laude, from Saint Olaf College and his Juris Doctor degree from the William Mitchell College of Law.
