A Look at Fraud From the Top Down…Working with the
Governor and Insurance Commissioner to Implement Meaningful Fraud Programs in
the State
Dan Dunmoyer
serves as President of the Personal Insurance Federation of California. Since
its inception, PIFC's membership and associate membership has grown from two to
six companies that write over 52 percent of the homeowners, auto and earthquake
lines of insurance sold in the State of California. Dan has served as PIFC's
chief advocate since 1989, and President since 1996. He oversees a full-time
professional staff in Sacramento responsible for legislative, regulatory and
public policy education and advocacy. Working as a team, the staff reviews more
than 300 bills each year, along with monitoring regulatory activities. Through
strategic planning, the team formulates and implements legislative and
regulatory programs that espouse the philosophies of PIFC's member companies and
their policyholders. Key issues for which PIFC has taken the advocacy lead
include homeowner issues, the California Earthquake Authority, community
investments, low-cost auto insurance, regulatory reform, construction dispute
resolution, privacy, and a host of other key policy areas.
