Taking the Candid Approach to Fraud

Insurance companies have fraud indicators established to spot fraudulent claims.  At State Farm, a new approach has been implemented.  If a claim contains fraud indicators, the claimant is called and the SIU has a “full disclosure” conversation explaining that the claim could be fraudulent and asking questions necessary to complete the investigation.  This approach has resulted in fewer complaints and more accurate reporting.
